I'm officially back in school! 10 years ago I was a freshman at UVic. Life was full of endless possibilities back then. At the beginning of September, there were so many activities on campus for first year students. Everyone was eager to meet new people and explore the new and exciting university life. Throughout my university years, I've had some ups and downs, but for the most part, I had a really great time. I thoroughly enjoyed my life being a university student. I did most things that a normal university student did. I partied, I drank, I dated, oh and whenever necessary, I studied and got through my courses.

I finished my undergrad in the year of 2008. After that, I started working right away. Although I enjoyed my job, I somehow got lost along the way and felt stuck in my job. I felt like I wasn't going anywhere and it was time for a change. Finally, I made up my mind to go back to school. I can tell you that, having been out of school for five solid years, this was not an easy decision. When I've got rent and bills to pay, and an established lifestyle to maintain, a budget student life just seemed like the least appealing thing in the world. It took me a couple years to push myself to go back to school. As much as I didn't want to, Vancouver is an expensive city to live in and it's extremely hard to find a good job with decent pay. I needed to advance myself in order to step up in my career.

So now, I'm back in school as a full time student and, at the same time, still managing to work part time. My life has been in absolute chaos ever since school started a week and a half ago. Not only is my course load twice as much as a regular full time student, but also managing to fit in my part time job has not easy. Often I end up having 15 hour days and barely have time for anything else. As stressful and exhausting as my life is, for the first time I'm really enjoying going to school. I'm not just going to school for the sake of getting a degree. Rather, everything I'm learning in this program is where my passion lies. Everyday we cover interesting topics in class and I cannot wait to finish my degree and apply this knowledge to real life situations. When I was doing my undergrad, my future seemed like a big blur as I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. This time around, my future is crystal clear and I'm en route to a career path which I will follow for the rest of my life.

I can see that this next year is going to be crazy busy but immensely fulfilling at the same time. I look forward to the moment I receive my diploma and throw my grad cap in the air.

PS. Due to the industry I'm in, I would like to keep my personal life and professional life separate. Therefore I plan on not sharing anything about my career on my blog. If you have any comments regarding my career or program, please send me a private message.
